The Neighborhoods of The Villages

The Villages of The Villages

What Are The Villages?

The Villages, Florida is made up of dozens of individual “villages,” each with its own unique charm, character, and personality. While the community as a whole is known for its vibrant lifestyle and world-class amenities, each village offers something a little different—whether it’s the style of homes, proximity to certain town squares, or the feel of the neighborhood itself. Broadly, The Villages can be thought of as being divided into several areas: the original northern villages near Spanish Springs, the central neighborhoods around Lake Sumter Landing, and the rapidly growing southern areas near Brownwood, Sawgrass Grove, and soon, Eastport. What’s most remarkable is that residents tend to develop a deep affection for the village they call home, proudly embracing it as their own special corner of this thriving community. This strong sense of identity and belonging helps make life in The Villages not only social and active but also warmly personal.

Neighborhood Recreation Centers

One of the defining features of life in The Villages is the incredible variety of recreation centers located throughout its many villages, offering something for everyone. Each village is served by its own neighborhood recreation center, which often includes a swimming pool, shuffleboard, bocce, and spaces for social clubs and gatherings. In addition, larger village recreation centers provide even more amenities such as tennis and pickleball courts, basketball, volleyball, fitness areas, and meeting rooms.

At the top level, regional recreation centers serve as major hubs, featuring large sports pools, arts and crafts rooms, event spaces, and activity schedules that bring hundreds of residents together. This tiered recreation system ensures that whether someone wants to join a fitness class, play a friendly game of pickleball, or take part in one of the thousands of clubs and activities, there is always a recreation center close to home in every village.

List of Villages

This is a list of the villages within The Villages, Florida, ordered by proximity to the various town squares. This list should not be taken as definitive; also, just because I’ve listed a village as being near a town square, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is officially part of that area of The Villages. It’s simply how I chose to order the various villages for simplicity. Thanks for understanding!

I have also included the family villages in this list. Family villages are not technically part of “The Villages” 55+ community; people who live in the family villages do not have access to the amenities that are available to residents of the neighborhoods in The Villages. Nonetheless, they are operated by The Villages, and many of the people who work for The Villages and the companies within The Villages live in these family villages. The newest family village, Middleton, is designed much like the neighborhoods of The Villages itself, with its own town square and a variety of different amenities for families.
